A dream is coming true

Tomorrow, Monday April 28, 2008, I am going to start my trip. It’s coming to my journey new places, new friends and new stories to tell all of you.

Everything it is packed, the car is ready thank of Byron, (my mechanic). Today I went through laundry, clean the refrigerator, clean my apt, double check my itinerary for the next week, that is going to take me up to Savannah, GA.

I am still looking for places to sleep and things to do. But the hard part of anything in life, is to get start it, that part is done. I have a great start for this week, so I am anxious to find out what is going to match this coming week in the future.

I don’t have word to thanks all my friends, co-workers, sponsors, and you all that keep sending me emails with ideas.

One of my highest point of the next week is going to be my stop on Kennedy Space Center, where great dreamers change the way we think about the Space today. I am going to know the history of Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space programs where everything got started.

Ok, I am going to do my best to keep you all updated, but for sure when I get to Kelleys Island I am going to review every part of my trip.

See you soon.

Thanks to all of you for making this trip possible

I am 2 weeks from “day 1” in my trip. I am exited, I am anxious, I am nervous. But over all, I am really happy to be able to make this trip with such good wishes from my friends, my family and all the new friends that I met through the Internet.

My first stop is Hutchinson Island near Fort Pierce, Florida, a quiet place to relax and connect with local people, hear their stories and learn about the area.

Cathy runs The Mellon Patch Inn, bed and breakfast or what I call from the pictures on her site “a little resort”. Their rooms are decorated in a comfortable Southwest style with hand painted walls. Anything made from our hands has a mystery feeling of love, we can’t see, but make us feel like we are at home.

On my second day, I am meeting Jason from Cocoa Beach, who is going to introduce me to a local diner that “makes a great coffee”. He is a cameraman with a lot of local stories to tell.

In Cocoa Beach I am staying in a vacation home half a block from the ocean with a view of Shuttle and Rocket launches from Kennedy Space Center. What makes this property special is not the location or it’s warm decoration, but the family who owns this property. They settled in Cocoa Beach in 1895 from Columbus, Ohio. They built the history of Cocoa Beach through “the first jelly factory in the South” and also were involved in the “space program” since 1956.

Cocoa Beach is the home of many champion surfers such as Kelly Slater, 8 times world champion. For my friends, I will make a must-stop at the “Surfing Hall of the Fame” and learn more about Pat O’Har, the famous surfboard shaper.
After two days at this great city, I will stop in Daytona Beach and discover all about the Daytona 500.

My trip keeps going north to Kelleys Island, stopping in Jacksonville, Fl, where I am going to meet at local professional tile floor installer with his Italian wife. She has challenged me and says she makes the best and original “late” that you can ever tested.

Savannah, GA, Isles of Palms, SC, Myrtle Beach, SC, Carolina Beach, NC, another Jacksonville but this one in NC, The Rocky Mount in NC, Virginia Beach, VA, Ocean City, Atlantic City and Perth Amboy in NJ. Manhattan, NY I will be there for two days, to turn left and go west through Pennsylvania and then Ohio to my final destination KELLEYS ISLAND, OHIO.

Thanks to all of you for making this trip possible. Without your hospitality and your guide through your city, it would be impossible for me to find all those little secrets that make you and your city special in this world. Thank you so much.

Day 1 Summer trip, Miami: Vizcaya Museum

Today I start testing my gear for my trip to Kelleys Island, Ohio. So, I drove to Vizcaya museum in Miami, Fl.

Admission: $12

This house was build in 1910, huge house build in time where it was no roads in the area. It was a tremendous job. Of course took years to be build.

I pick this location because there are not many people who knows about this property. If you like to take pictures, here you would have a lot of opportunities to test yours skills. It is a great place to walk through European’s gardens without leaven Miami. The view of Key Biscayne is one of the best, and of course they have a coffee shop with a decent coffee.

This property is also used for special event such as corporate event, (which it was going on today) and a lot of weddings.

If you like more information send me your email and I would provide you with phone and contact information from the coffee shop up to the catering who was doing the event today.

I met today a few tourist from Chicago, get a coffee with a chocolate cake, a lot of water and enjoy greats views with a pleasant walk.

When you are 70 years old

I am 70 years old, retired from retail business. Everybody knows me in my town. 3 kids, 4 grand kids.
At this aged I am trying to find out what means:
Experience
Open minded
Hard work

This is what I got. For experience I believe that we learn not for how many years of repetition we do something. Repetition brings perfection. What makes some one experience is how many times we solve a problem. Problems challenge us if we want to solve them. To solve a problem we have to go back to our knowledge, our believes, our common sense. I love problems. Problems help me to grow.

Open Minded help us to be free. Help us to open our horizons. Help us to have more questions, more curiosity. Help us to be free, to know that is something more then just number,(salary, taxes, mortgages, tickets, saving, 401k,etc). Open minded is the way to know the universe.

Hard work? I always believed that was progress. I believed all base on the number. Through hard work I would find my goals, my dreams.
Today I know that Hard work without passion may help in the numbers, but would never help to get my dream, find my goals.

NOTE:
All those comments come from a good friend of mine. I am 30 years old.
Live your life with passion. Don't give your life away.
Thank you.
